Comment:
Mt Isa survey of 680 dwellings in 1986 showed that 4.5 percent of the population had cysts in their stools; highest prevalence was in children aged 1-5years at 12.0 percent. Study indicated that the disease was being transmitted by hand to mouth contamination with schools, kindergarten and child care centres being the important foci of transmission.
